About Pairaphrase

Pairaphrase is a software development company. We develop secure, AI-powered translation software products used by enterprises and public-sector organizations to translate sensitive content safely and efficiently. We help organizations overcome language barriers while maintaining strict data security and compliance.

We have two products: Pairaphrase and now we are expanding our product ecosystem with PairaVoice, a HIPAA and FERPA-compliant mobile application that uses speech recognition and translation to help healthcare and education professionals communicate with patients across languages.

Role overview

We are seeking an energetic, highly connected, and results-driven Business Development Manager to lead outbound lead generation efforts across California and beyond.

This role is responsible for identifying, engaging, and developing relationships with prospective clients through proactive outreach, strategic networking, and market visibility. This is a pure outbound business development role. The ideal candidate is a confident communicator who thrives on opening doors, building relationships, creating opportunities from scratch, and turning conversations into qualified sales opportunities.

Success in this role depends heavily on strong networking ability, persistence, and the confidence to represent the company in professional settings.

Key responsibilities

Prospecting & Lead Generation 

  • Develop and execute outbound prospecting strategies to generate qualified leads and new business opportunities.
  • Identify and target prospective clients through research, cold outreach, referrals, events, and relationship-based selling.
  • Initiate conversations with decision-makers through phone calls, email outreach, LinkedIn, introductions, and in-person networking.
  • Qualify prospects and schedule meetings or handoffs for the sales team.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual outbound activity and lead-generation goals.

Relationship Building & Brand Representation 

  • Build and maintain a strong network of business contacts, referral sources, and industry connections.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, networking events, industry associations, and other business development opportunities.
  • Establish rapport quickly and position the company’s value in a compelling and professional manner.
  • Maintain consistent follow-up with prospects to build trust and keep opportunities moving forward.

Pipeline Management & Sales Collaboration 

  • Track outreach activity, meetings, lead status, and pipeline development in CRM.
  • Collaborate with leadership and sales to refine targeting, messaging, and outreach strategy.

Market Intelligence & Growth Support 

  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and local market opportunities to support growth efforts. 

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–7+ years of experience in business development, outbound sales, lead generation, or strategic prospecting.
  • Demonstrated success in a pure outbound or hunter-style role.
  • Exceptional networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal presence, with the ability to engage senior decision-makers confidently.
  • Proven ability to generate leads through cold outreach, referrals, events, and personal connections.
  • Highly self-motivated with strong initiative and follow-through.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a high volume of outreach activity.
  • Experience with CRM tools such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar platforms.
  • Willingness to travel within California for meetings, networking events, conferences, and industry functions.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in SaaS, B2B technology, localization, healthcare, enterprise sales, or a related industry.
  • Established network in relevant California business communities or industry circles.
  • Experience representing a company at conferences, business events, or trade organizations.
  • Comfort with social selling and LinkedIn-based prospecting.

Compensation and Benefits 

Target earnings structured as 50% base salary and 50% performance-based compensation. Final compensation will depend on experience, skills, territory, and overall fit.
